we are AOF art

With a requirement of 1 year in the arts (including both visual and performing), our offerings include: drawing 1& 2, darkroom photography 1& 2, digital photography and advanced imaging, painting, architecture and applied engineering, ceramics 1& 2, printmaking, graphic design & the T-shirt, AP 2D drawing and painting, AP 2D design, AP photography, AP 3D sculpture.

Our advanced and AP studio students exhibit off campus yearly, their work also selected for silver and gold key awards at CT Scholastic Art Awards, and they are published in our literary and art magazine, the Hippocrene.

Originally from CT, I earned my Masters and then continued teaching in Boston schools until moving to Italy in 2004 for 8 years. I've taught in a variety of settings/institutions for over 17 years, with 5 years at AOF. By far teaching at an all-boys school is one of the most challenging and rewarding. My true loves are darkroom photography and drawing and I see book arts as a beautiful platform for so many visual arts forms. I am a huge advocate of the arts, with emphasis on the manual aspect of learning and quality of craftsmanship.

Cristina

A native New Yorker, I attended Chapin, Hotchkiss, and Miss Porter's schools before matriculating south to Vanderbilt University, where I earned a B.A. in art history, minors in creative writing, political science, and Middle Eastern studies, and the Phi Beta Kappa Award for Outstanding Creative Work. While in college, I co-founded L.I.T.E. (Linking Individuals Through Education), an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving cross-cultural understanding among global youth through technology and empathy-based programming. I am a NOLS India graduate, an avid gardener, and a burgeoning kayaker.

Our school, established in 1927, encompasses 866 acres of land and is home to over 400 boys a year. We have approximately 70 teachers, the teacher/student ratio is 1:6, and we live, learn, play and eat meals together on our Cotswold-inspired campus.
