PORTRAITS

This is the third project  in the semester, after blind contour drawing, grid enlargements and stippling techniques, and a day outside for some oil pastel drawing on-site in early Fall.

Boys worked from a photo, drawing on vellum paper with ebony pencil and paper stomps to create value. When complete, they moved onto the background, having divided up the space into various segments and finding or creating unique patterns to fill those spaces. Emphasis on variation and repetition, geometric versus organic forms.
